Who Ruby Is For

Ruby is a good fit for most small firms—especially those that already use Clio or Rocket Matter. However, firms that need a live receptionist 24/7 will also need an after-hours answering service for backup.

Live Receptionist
Although they are called "virtual" receptionists, the person answering the phone is, in fact, a real person.
Customizable Greeting/Script
You should be able to customize your greeting, at a minimum, and you may be able to include a script for different practice areas, phone lines, etc.
Warm Transfers
A warm (or "live") transfer means your receptionist can call you to see if you are available to take the call before transferring it to you.
Takes Messages
You can have your receptionist take a message instead of sending callers to voicemail.
Voicemail
Your receptionist service can host your voicemail box.
Call Overflow
If your staff are sometimes overwhelmed by calls, your receptionist could handle just the overflow, meaning they can answer after a set number of rings or outside your office hours, instead of having your calls go to voicemail.

Things You Might Want To Know

Limited live reception hours. Ruby live reception is available for the vast majority of the day in the US, from 8am Eastern until 9pm Pacific, and 9am Eastern until 6pm Pacific on the weekends. But it is not a 24/7/365 service, because Ruby believes in letting its receptionists sleep at night. However, Ruby’s newer live chat service is available 24/7/365, so we think it seems likely that the live reception hours will eventually go to 24/7/365 as well.
