Artificial Intelligence with MyCase IQ
MyCase added MyCase IQ, AI software designed for attorneys. MyCase IQ helps you write internal and external communications, including assistance with style, tone, and summarization. In addition to helping with writing, MyCase has, currently in beta, can examine matter documents and provide AI-generated synopses. Even with these new capabilities, MyCase understands the importance of properly handling client data, as they promise to embed โresponsible GenAIโ throughout the software.
CRM & Leads Management (Pro or Advanced required)
Integrated Leads Management
Although it may not be as robust as some stand-alone products, MyCase ships with a client relationship management (CRM) system already built into the application. This means users donโt have to spend any time setting up the integration or choosing a system that works and plays well with other software.
Intake Forms and Appointment Scheduling
Attorneys, or their staff, can build intake forms from within the system. They can then embed those forms directly on the firmโs website and allow potential clients to enter their contact information directly into the system. Additionally, you can setup a website allowing clients schedule consultations and other appointments without needing to call.
Client Portal & Communication
The MyCase Client Portal allows for cloud-based, secure communication between firms and clients through email, instant messaging, and commentary on uploaded files (Pro and Advanced tiers). It may not be the easiest thing to get clients to use (which is the case for most client portals), but it offers much of the ease of texting without the additional security risks. All subscription tiers can share tasks, events, and invoices with clients. Pro and Advanced tiers can also share documents and messages.
Built-in Email Client
Pro and Advanced MyCase users have access to a full email client built into the program. It syncs up with just about any email provider, so users can continue to use Gmail, Microsoft 365, etc. However, users can also use the built-in MyCase email client and associate emails with matters. Additionally, MyCase is also smart enough to remember those associations, so the same contacts will automatically be associated with the relevant matter without further review.
MyCase Document Management
Although it can integrate with Dropbox, MyCase will also allow users to store client documents within the system. These documents can then be shared with clients (Pro or Advanced tiers), commented on, or even allow clients to upload their documents.
E-signatures
The platform’s Pro and Advanced users can access unlimited, built-in e-signing for retainer agreements and other documents. Users can increase efficiency without adding any third-party software or integrations.
MyCase Billing & Accounting
For Pro and Advanced users who bill by the hour, MyCaseโs Smart Time Finder will help keep track of time. Whenever an action is taken in the software, the software automatically creates a draft time entry to simplify attorney billing. Ideally, users simply need to review what MyCase has documented to track their time and confirm it periodically.
Security & Data
MyCase regularly backs up data to its servers as a standard cloud-based security measure. However, it is always good practice for users to have their own backup protocol. To that end, users can download a โfull backupโ .ZIP file once a day. This can include all their firmโs data and open files. Or, it can just include cases linked to a particular user. This gives users the freedom to set up different data management based on specific users and storage limits.
Migrating
MyCase offers self-service and assisted data migration at no additional cost to new customers. This is extremely helpful. However, as with most practice management software, users probably wonโt be able to import all their data. This new system may not have the same fields as the software from which they are importing. But, with its assisted support, mapping and importing data into MyCase isnโt as daunting as it may seem.
MyCase Pricing
Our review finds that MyCase is a user-friendly, cloud-based LPMS. They offer three subscription tiers โ Basic, Pro, and Advanced, priced from $39 to $99 per month. The biggest distinctions among core features apply to automation and communication, available to Pro and Advanced only. The Basic plan also lacks a host of premium features, like custom fields, intake management, texting with clients, integrations, and mobile apps. Additionally, only the Advanced tier includes MyCase Drive, to sync MyCase document storage with your local computer, and full text searching of DOCX and PDF documents stored with matters.
MyCase is very user-friendly, letting me focus my time of the practice of law.
Pros: The interface helps me stay on top of my casers and my billing, letting me know where I am and where I need to go. My clients have all said favorable things about using MyCase to stay connected and involved and I have peace of mind with its highly encrypted security.
Cons: It’s rather expensive for each user, so if there could be a discount for multiple users and/or a discount for long-term clients, that would be a nice way to say thank you. Also, there are some features we never use, so if we could pick and choose the features we want to use to bring the price down, that would be great also.
The decision was price-driven. MyCase provided what we needed at a very competitive, affordable price.
4 Years and Counting . . .
Pros: What I like most are the E-signature and web payment.
Cons: MyCase continues to improve its software and has been very useful and effective in the industry. What I like the least is the ‘workflow’ – most likely because I don’t understand how to use it yet. I prefer to open a new case, set the workflow, and it automatically checks the box on what needs to be done next.
I chose MyCase because it was not as expensive and easy to use. The interface is simple and straightforward… and did I mention that it’s easy for potential clients to sign online. This feature alone has increased my client retention by 50%.
Rodriguez Law Group, Inc.
I like everything about MyCase. It’s perfect, thank you.
MyCase has been a wonderful product to . . .
Thrilled with it
All this, and it costs less than less robust competitors.
MyCase is a great way to bring your practice into the 21st century.
MyCase is an amazing Case Management System
I wish the billing portion allowed me to turn off credit card payments to avoid the ACH fees. I also wish that the reporting would have separate payments into trust separate from income to accurately report the balance made to date.
MyCase keeps my case files easily organized, allows clients to contact me and review the status of their file without needing to ask me questions and keeps everything in one place.
MyCase
Great Software
I like the ability to easily communicate with staff and clients about their legal issues. The automation is very good and allows tasks to be done in half the time without automation.
I don’t like the lack of automation in the Leads section.
I chose MyCase because Clio was too expensive for the same features.
Maldonado Law, PLLC
Pros: It offers complete coverage and meets all the needs to successfully operate a small law firm.
Cons: File retention and uploading video and audio files. It does not work great for large video and audio files which are routinely part of cases I handle.
MyCase is extremely user friendly.
Easy to use, great customer service and very affordable
MyCase = MyLife
Pros: I like the fact that it is user-friendly. There are so many features that we haven’t even used because it can literally do everything you need in once space.
Cons: There is really not any cons to this product that I have found.
MyCase has more for the money and was easier to navigate than the other products we reviewed.
Best Case Management App Out There
I haven’t found anything I don’t like about this software.
Fantastic Practice Management Software for Small Law Firms
Cons: The Microsoft Outlook plug-in works well enough, but is a little clunky and requires a lot of mandatory updates.
Overall: A+
Amazing Database Management, Client Communication Tools & Client Document Access All in One Place!
I am able to manage each client’s file, communicate with client’s (and other parties) through the MyCase portal,, I can allow clients to access various documents through the MyCase portal, I can track all communications with various parties without effort, and when clients access documents through the portal, I am allow to track it for future use. All of this makes me more efficient and a better communicator. All of this at a VERY reasonable price.
What do you dislike?
The only thing I dislike about MyCase is the fact that I didn’t develop it first! Seriously, it is cloud based, and there is an APP that also allows me to access it from my phone or iPad, it allows me to create folders in each clients file, where I can save documents, videos, and photographs. It is the perfect law office management tool.
This applications has made a MAJOR difference for our Firm
Cons: I honestly can’t think of one single thing. It is amazing to us that everything is setup SO PERFECTLY.
I Switched and Never Looked Back
Cons: I have two least favorites about this software. First, when I work with another co-counsel or Of Counsel on a case, these partners in work cannot access the client’s folder unless I pay for them, even if they have their own MyCase account. Thus, I can only afford to give them the much limited Client access. The other thing is that only recently MyCase started making suggestions within various fields, I wish they did this more and that, perhaps, they post a video or blog post on suggestions of ways to set up a case. This would be useful for those setting up shop for the first time.
Overall: With MyCase, I’m much better able to track the progress of the law firm, assess its growth and trends and from there strategize for the firm’s future growth.
A fantastic tool from fantastic people.
Since then, My Case has continued to improve. Every month something new is added, and a great program becomes better. The integration with Outlook, with Dropbox, the ability to send text messages from the platform, the ability to accept payments by E-check (no charge), the ability to obtain electronic signatures, the ability to generate reports using the custom fields, are just some of the improvements of the last year… and again, they keep improving.
The most amazing part is the fact that their staff is available and they actually listen and implement our suggestions. Not only that, they are human. On September 20, 2017 we were hit by Hurricane Maria and our beautiful island was devastated. We had no power, no communications, and of course, no internet. The My Case people did not bill us for three months, without us asking. That was humane!!! I had no way to access My Case, and when I finally logged on, about a month later, from the side of the road in San Juan, it was great to see what they had done.
There are a still a couple of things that My Case needs to improve, for example, entering data into custom fields after the case has been created, and, they have increased their prices several times over the last four years with little advance notice, while the other case management software has not… I believe they should announce at least 3 months in advance. Regardless of those small misgivings, if you want a software that your clients and your staff will use, My Case is the best case management software for the price right now.
MyCase - Intuitive and Evolving
MyCase Review
Better Price, Fewer Unnecessary Bells, and Easy to Use
The down side to MyCase is that it lacks many of the tie-ins that Clio and other alternatives offer. Beyond calendar, email, and Quickbooks synchronization, there isn’t much. No Dropbox, Zapier, Ruby, or LawPay.
But this lack of tie-ins also makes MyCase incredibly easy to use. They have their own payment platform with competitive rates and no monthly fees.
Possibly most important: MyCase is almost half the price of Clio and other competitors, assuming you have an ABA discount. Even without the discount it is still a better value.
