Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of NetDocuments?

NetDocuments does not provide public pricing. Instead, they encourage you to schedule a product demo as a conversation starter.

How can NetDocuments help my law office?

NetDocuments’ secure, web-based document management platform allows firms to track, store, share, and collaborate on documents internally and with clients or other third parties from any location and various digital devices, including laptops, tablets, and even phones. Access-control features ensure that only one person at a time edits a document (although multiple people can open read-only copies), and everyone always works from the most current version. The SetBuilder and PatternBuilder add-ons ease the document preparation and delivery process.

Does NetDocuments integrate with my Law Practice Management Software?

Probably. NetDocuments integrates with many top LPMS vendors, including Actionstep, Aderant, AdvolLogix, Caret Legal, Clio, and Tabs3.

Can my law office securely share files with clients?

Yes, NetDocuments offers secure sharing tools like CollabSpaces and SetBuilder.

Does NetDocuments have version control?

Yes. NetDocs offers in-depth version control that seamlessly integrates into the document management, sharing, and collaboration. Like other full-service DMS products, NetDocuments co-ops application “open/save” dialog boxes, including the ability to easily save changes as a new version of an existing document.

Does NetDocuments support Optical Character Recognition?

Yes. NetDocuments offers Optical Character Recognition (OCR). This allows law firms can make all the documents in their system searchable.

Is NetDocuments good for my office's discovery needs?

NetDocuments isn’t itself an eDiscovery program. NetDocuments can help you securely collect and store documents as part of a discovery process. But it is not a purpose-built eDiscovery platform like Everlaw, Logikcull, Nextpoint, or Relativity.

Is NetDocuments secure enough for my law practice?

Yes, NetDocuments provides a tested and trusted secure document management platform.

How difficult is NetDocuments to set-up?

As a web-based system, there’s very little installed on one’s computer or device. However, firms should work with NetDocuments or a certified partner directly. This allows them to properly configure the program for the firm's needs and migrate existing documents into it.

Will NetDocuments work on my computer?

Yes. NetDocuments works in any modern web browser. The Windows desktop add-in requires Windows 10 or 11 and Office 2016 or newer. The Mac desktop add-in, which has few features than its Windows counterpart, requires macOS 10.15 or newer. The Outlook add-in, ndMail, works with Outlook on Windows, Mac, and the web.

Additional Details about NetDocuments

Integration with Outlook

With NetDocument’s Office 365 add-in, you can manage and store documents within Outlook. This tight integration with Outlook means that attorneys can file client communications right from the application rather than manually moving it for storage in a client file. NetDocuments will make suggestions as to where to file an email based on the sender, the subject line, and attachments.

Document sets

SetBuilder is an add-on program for NetDocuments that assembles multi-document sets into a single PDF with a shareable link. This is useful for attorneys who routinely work with large numbers of documents, such as real estate lawyers handling a closing. That can save time and reduce the errors that can occur when a team member manually assembles the document set.
