Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of Knackly?

Knackly offers three pricing tiers, available in annual or monthly terms, that start at $100/month for four users at the Basic tier to $1,000/month for 15 users at the Professional tier. The middle tier, named Plus, adds queries, PDF automation, third-party integrations, and a monthly expert consultation. The Professional tier includes the Plus features, 15 users, and API Access. You can add users to any tier for between $25 and $40 per month.

Does Knackly integrate with my Law Practice Management Software?

As of this review, Knackly only integrates with Clio Manage. However, it's Open API means users can connect it to any other product that has an Open API.

Can my law office accept eSignatures through Knackly?

No. As of this review, Knackly does not have eSignature functionality built-in.

Can my law firm accept ePayments through Knackly?

No. As of this review, Knackly does not have an ePayment portal, nor does it integrate directly with any ePayment provider. However, because of the nature of LawPay and Knackly's Open API, it shouldn't be hard to work in that functionality.

Does Knackly have Guided Interviews or client-facing forms?

Yes. Knackly has external interviews that allows users to collect information from clients or other third-parties.

Is Knackly easy for lawyers to use?

Knackly is not a no-code solution. With it's advanced functionality comes some complexity. We would suggest that each user take advantage of their on-boarding process.

Can my law firm use our own templates?

Yes, in fact, Knackly uses only your templates. There are no starter sets or jurisdictional bundles to buy. Instead, you start with the documents you have For HotDocs users, they even offer an automated conversion tool that will help you migrate your templates.

Does Knackly have ready-made templates?

No, as of this review, Knackly does not offer ready-made templates. However, on the plus side, you automate the language you’ve perfected in practice.

How difficult is Knackly to set-up?

Knackly installs easily. There’s nothing to install apart from a Microsoft Word add-in. The bulk of your “set-up” time lies in familiarizing yourself with how to automate a template in Knackly. From that perspective, Knackly is pretty middle-of-the-road in its learning curve.

Will Knackly work on my computer?

Users create Knackly documents through a web-based interview. Any modern web browser on any modern operating system (e.g., Windows, macOS, iOs, and Android) can open the Knackly website and generate a document. You can create Knackly word processor templates in Microsoft Word, running on Windows, macOS, or the web. Users create PDF templates via the platform's website.

Additional Details about Knackly

At its core, Knackly is a way to create interfaces for users to automate MS Word, .docx, PDF, Text, and XML files. It has all the conditional logic capabilities that MS Word has (which is a lot). And, although Clio Manage is the only Law Practice Management Software (LPMS) it integrates with, its Open API allows the capable attorney to integrate it into almost any system.

Integrations

Knackly’s primary integrations are with Microsoft Word and Clio Manage. It also has an Open API, allowing it to connect with any other piece of software that also has an Open API. So, if a firm wants to connect to Lawmatics, it can. PracticePanther? Yep. RocketMatter? Certainly. The firm just needs  to have the resources to do it.

Jumpstart

This document automation solution is not a plug-and-play product or a one-size-fits-all platform where one can gradually ease into using it. Running it appropriately requires a decent bit of infrastructure, and they know it. So, when a firm signs up, in addition to the monthly (or yearly) plan, the firm also pay for whats called Jumpstart. This is a 1- to 6-month program designed to start users off on the right foot. The firm chooses which level it wants, based on how tech-savvy its users are and how much help they expect to need.

Who Knackly is For

This software is not for document automation dabblers. But those attorneys creating many complex documents will find all the capabilities they need here. The platform proves helpful in any document-heavy practice, such as estate planners automating their documents or landlord-tenant attorneys having clients build their own leases.

  • Richard D. says:
I’ve used Knackly for about 3 years now. They have created multiple complex solution for me to replace HOTDOCS. I’ve always found Kim to be responsive to questions and for updating things that come up (hard to test every detail until you are able to use a specific part of the app). His cost are fair and delivery has always been on time. I wish other vendors were as responsive.

I can strongly recommend Knackly and Kim Mayberry.
