A recent study reveals that the majority of social media profiles reflect the individual’s true personality. With that in mind, now is a good time to examine your social media campaign and decide if you are portraying yourself the way that you want.
Some of the people who find your Facebook page, Twitter feed, or blog posts, might know you a little, and know your personality. But many of them will not. Try and view your online persona in a vacuum and decide if it creates an accurate representation of who you are.
For example, if you are a generally courteous person, but your Twitter feed contains snarky comments and harsh criticisms of new laws, you might be creating the wrong impression. Do not allow the virtual distance of the internet to damper your common courtesy and manners.
On the other hand, if you present yourself as an aggressive advocate, your social media campaign is an opportunity to promote your persona. If portraying gusto is part of your marketing then it should be reflected online.
Whatever your personality type, social media is an opportunity to expose your personality, not recreate it.
