Shape Software’s legal CRM is a cloud-based sales and marketing automation software that helps you manage your law firm on one platform. You can use it to attract and nurture new client leads with drip campaigns and newsletters. With your own white-labeled client portal, you can onboard new clients, share documents, and provide live chat support. They have an out-of-the-box template as a starting point for attorneys, but you can customize the default settings based on your firm’s needs.

Shape CRM enables department-specific performance indicators and allows you to explore business-relevant trends. Additional features include call scripting, task scheduling, reporting, and integration with Outlook and Gmail. Shape’s project management tools help you centralize prospective clients and manage existing accounts and contacts. 


Shape CRM is the only known CRM for law firms we know of with built-in online invoicing. Task and time tracking can be managed on the platform which translates to billing and invoicing relatively seamlessly, while keeping everything in one place. Additionally, it integrates with tools you may already be using, like MailChimp, Twilio, G-Suite, Practice Panther, Clio, Stripe, BombBomb, Zapier, Webhooks, and a lot more. There is a one-off fee to integrate some software, but the team will go through the project scope and cost ahead of time. 


The user experience and set up of triggers and drop campaigns is very intuitive. Even setting up workflows seems very plug-and-play. Your firm can get its on-boarding, relationship management, client service workflows and other processes very specific to your firm’s needs. But you still get a very hands-on on-boarding specialist and a personalized training call to familiarize you with Shape. There is a varied professional services fee for data import and account customization.

Shape pricing starts at $79/month/user. There is no annual contract and they offer customer support via an online knowledge base, 24/7 online support, phone, and email. There is a fee if you use bulk email or going over any usage credits. It rolls over month to month. But we recommend taking the time to get a quote on that and understanding if this meets your needs. 

Who is Shape Software For?

Shape CRM can be deployed for nearly every type of business, but they have a version with features that speak directly to legal business applications. It’s a good match for nearly any sized law firm including solo practitioners. It also seems highly customizable, which is sometimes a difficult thing to set up and navigate. But the back end is intuitive, so making it fit for your law firm should be easy for most moderately tech competent managers.
