For Document Management & Automation, the following are essential features, and you should therefore expect to see a check in every box in this section.
An open API means that the program has an application programming interface that will allow it to directly integrate with other software programs such your firm's timekeeping, accounting, or custom relationship management software.
This means the software provides information on document revisions and makes sure you are using the most recent version of a template.
The document management program creates resuable templates.
The program can create a guided interview and then use the client's answers to automatically create a document.
If the software uses conditional logic, this means that you can choose to have certain text in your assembled document included only under certain conditions
This means the software can generate tables of any size and place them in your assembled document.
If this field is checked, it means the software can perform calculations based on numerical or text input.

Free. You don't get all the features on that tier, but you can really kick the tires. However, at $90.00 per month, you get access to integrations and custom branding.
Afterpattern integrates directly with Clio Manage. However, its Open API allows it to connect with a whole host of other products, provided you have the technical ability to take advantage of it.
Yes. Through their integration with HelloSign, your firm can easily accept ePayments through Afterpatterns apps.
Yes. Afterpattern integrates with Stripe at every payment tier, and AffiniPay at the Professional tier, which is $90.00 per month.
Yes. Firms can create guided interviews and client-facing forms to use in their apps.
Afterpattern isn't like all the other document assembly products. So, it takes a little understanding in order to use. However, their documentation is pretty comprehensive. And, once you get the hang of it, it is pretty easy to use.
Yes. Law firms can easily bring their own templates to the Afterpattern platform. Although, you'll likely need to rebuild them.
Afterpattern doesn't have ready-made templates, per se. But it does have a method for sharing apps between users. In this way, not only could you get pre-created apps for your own use, but you could also monetize your own apps as you make them.
Lawyers can get started using Afterpattern in just a few minutes. Although we'd suggest you have a plan before you start building, users can easily dabble and experiment as they go.
Yes. Afterpattern is a cloud-based application that will work on any modern browser.
The Client Portal is a place where you can allow your clients to securely access the apps you have created for them. You can also charge them for this access, which, we think, is a real game-changer.
Afterpattern has some of the best documentation out there. Don’t believe us? Have a look. Not only do they have videos and walk-throughs of how to use their product, but they have tutorials on the basic concepts needed to utilize any document automation software.
The most notable integration for Afterpattern is the two-way sync with Clio (which Documate, Lawyaw, and Knackly also have). However, they also integrate with Google Sheets. So, if you have to, you can send information via Zapier. We would like to see more integrations with products like AirTable, Notion, and standard MySQL databases, which don’t exist right now. But we imagine that is in the works.

The quality of the product and support have gone down significantly since the netdocuments acquisition. All my apps are buggy.

“Not no code or low code”

This was not a low code tool. Very difficult and required technical knowledge beyond that which anyone in my law firm had.

Has great functionality and accessibility, anyone can learn and make apps in a jiffy, especially with the support their team provides!

Seems to have some good functionality but I had to learn to code. I switched back to HotDocs after giving it a try and learning to become a programmer.
