Sage is cloud-based accounting software with basic features that can also scale up and integrate with Salesforce, a customer relationship management (CRM) solution.
Sage has three options to choose from: Sage One Accounting, which is a simple cloud accounting solution, Sage 50c, which integrates with Office 365, and Sage Live, which is fully customizable cloud accounting. They also offer services such as payment processing and payroll for an additional cost.
Sage One. Sage One Start is a basic accounting solution suitable for solo and small firms. You can track expenses, securely connect to bank accounts, reconcile statements, and access the program via mobile. Your data will be backed up frequently via their Instant Automatic backup feature. Additionally, you can have unlimited users and send invoices, including multi-currency invoices.
Sage 50c. Sage 50c is a desktop accounting solution that backs up to the cloud. It’s fully integrated with Office 365 so that you can sync Outlook contacts and other data.
Sage Live. Sage Live is a feature-rich accounting solution designed for small to mid-sized firms who want to invest in a scalable accounting program. Send invoices, pay bills, accept payments, track time, consolidate accounts, and run detailed business reports from your customizable dashboard. Since Sage Live is built on the Salesforce cloud platform, it gives you access to over 3,000 apps on the Salesforce App Exchange. You can fully customize your Sage Live and Salesforce experience, as well as add up to 100 users if needed as your firm grows.

Things You Might Want To Know
Security. It is unclear from Sage’s United States website what type of data security protocols they observe. However, Sage sites in the United Kingdom and South Africa indicate they use bank-grade encryption and host their data on Amazon’s cloud.
Migration. Sage allows for data import from pre-formatted CSV templates that they provide.
Apps and Integration. Sage has accounting apps for both iOS and Android. Sage makes its API available so that other applications can integrate with it easily. Via the Salesforce platform, Sage Live has hundreds of integrations.
Who Sage Is For
Sage offers a dizzying array of solutions, particularly because the company also has many non-accounting products.
At the Sage One tier, Sage is a good fit for small firms that are looking for standard accounting capabilities such as tracking expenses, sending invoices, and connecting to your bank account and credit cards. However, you won’t get payment processing or payroll without significant extra costs that are better suited to much larger organizations. Sage 50c integrates things like payroll but it isn’t clear what the extra cost for that service might be.
While Sage Live’s range of services and integrations is impressive, it is a large-scale solution much more suited for large firms.
