Less Accounting Highlights

Granular Expense Tracking. Record and categorize business expenses by securely connecting your bank account. You can even organize expenses across a number of different categories, such as project, income type, or a customizable category. Reminders can be set up to alert you of upcoming due dates connected to expenses. One expense that is often left out of many accounting programs is mileage tracking, which is included in Less Accounting’s features.

Proposals. Less Accounting provides a number of templates that can be edited to create custom business proposals. Those proposals can be attached as notes to contacts and can be converted to client-ready invoices.

Contacts and CRM. Less Accounting has some built-in CRM features. You can import all your contacts from Gmail, Highrise, Basecamp, and more, and attach notes and reminders to those contacts.

Reports. You can use Less Accounting to build reports that let you filter by date and client, or you can create custom tags. There are also reports to keep track of accounts payable and receivable.

Less Accounting is priced based on the amount of your firm’s spending.

  • $20/month for those firms that spend less than $10,000/month.
  • $36/month for those firms that spend less than $25,000/month.
  • $54/month for those firms that spend less than $40,000/month.

For an additional fee of $250/month, you can add a bookkeeper.

Things You Might Want To Know

Security. Less Accounting uses 256-bit encryption and encrypts all sensitive information, including credit card and bank account numbers. Data is stored in U.S. data centers with biometric access controls and 24/7 surveillance.

Migration. Less Accounting provides information on how to migrate from QuickBooks, but it isn’t an actual data import. Rather, it is several steps (such as auto-importing credit cards, importing a file of older transactions, and manually creating some invoices) that, taken together, may approximate a migration.

Apps and Integration. There are no iOS or Android apps for Less Accounting. However, they have integrated with a number of third-party apps, including Stripe and PayPal for invoice payments and Basecamp for project management.

Who Less Accounting Is For

Less Accounting is a good fit for solosmall firms looking for a simple accounting solution built with small businesses in mind. It’s also great if you want to track miles and contacts in your accounting software. However, it’s probably not a good fit if you are looking for tax preparation features.
