I am honored to have been asked to join Lawyerist, one of my favorite law blogs, as a regular contributor. I am very much looking forward to learning and sharing with the Lawyerist community.
I am an attorney in Rochester, New York, and am of counsel to Fiandach & Fiandach. I co-author Criminal Law in New York, a Thomson West treatise, and am a newspaper columnist for The Daily Record. I also publish 5 blogs: Practicing Law in the 21st Century, Legal Antics, Legal Tweets, Sui Generis—A New York Law Blog, and The Epicurean Esquire.
In April 2009, I founded lawtechTalk, a consulting company that educates businesses about emerging legal technologies and Internet and Web 2.0 technologies. lawtechTalk helps companies understand and determine which emerging legal technologies would best supplement the systems already in use and explains how to navigate and utilize social media to the benefit of their business.
My blog posts will focus on the intersection of law and technology, including social media and other Web 2.0 technologies.
I consider myself to be an evangelist for the utilization of social media to network and create business opportunities. To that end, please feel free to connect with me on Twitter: @nikiblack, @LegalTweets, and @lawtechTalk.
