CosmoLex’s email integration is simple and straightforward. Then, CosmoLex uses a smart algorithm that automatically associates your emails with the appropriate clients and matters. That means you don’t have to spend time organizing your emails.
Matter-centric records is CosmoLex’s practice-management-software philosophy. That means bringing all the information related to your matters—The File—together in one place. With its 4.0 release, CosmoLex adds one of the last remaining pieces of the puzzle: email. (A secure portal for sharing documents and communicating securely is coming next.)
Using email in CosmoLex is simple. All you have to do is forward your emails—one at a time or all of them—to a secret email address. You can keep on using Outlook or Mac Mail or Gmail (or whatever you prefer) just as you do now. CosmoLex won’t make you change.
When CosmoLex receives an email from you, it will automatically tag the email with the appropriate contact and matter. If it can’t figure out what matter to tag your email with, it will hold it in the Untagged folder for you to tag manually. You can also resolve emails that match more than one client or matter under the Multi Match folder. You only have to organize the emails CosmoLex doesn’t recognize.

How to Get It
You can try CosmoLex’s email integration by signing up for a free trial. To begin using email with CosmoLex, go to Firm Settings > Firm Preferences > Email Forwarding to find your confidential email address. Add that email address to your contacts. Then, in your email software, you can either:
- Manually BCC or forward emails to CosmoLex one at a time.
- Set up a rule to BCC CosmoLex on every email (or use a filter, such as emails you file in a Client Files folder).
See CosmoLex’s help documentation for instructions for implementing email forwarding in all popular email clients.
