Continuing legal education is a many-million dollar business. In most jurisdictions, every lawyer is required to engage in a perennial hunt for the most-relevant, cheapest, and most interesting CLE credits to stave off hefty fines, license suspension, and other hand-slapping. As technology changes teaching and learning, the CLE industry is changing, too. Low-cost providers are disrupting traditional ones. New pathways to continuing legal education credit popping up regularly. And the initial justification for the requirements is probably less relevant today than ever.
