Ellie Krug

Ellen "Ellie" Krug was a civil trial lawyer in Boston and then her hometown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa for nearly thirty years. She has a record of 100+ trials in federal and state courts in four states and appeals to the supreme courts of Massachusetts and Iowa and the Eighth Circuit. In 2009, she became the first Iowa attorney to transition genders. She later relocated to Minneapolis to write and publish Getting to Ellen: A Memoir about Love, Honesty and Gender Change (2013 Stepladder Press). Ellie presently speaks and trains on general diversity and inclusion topics and consults with law firms and other employers on a host of inclusion-related services.
