What I like about the Logitech Keyboard Case for iPad 2
This case is thicker, sturdier, and denser than the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard. The case has raised edges, which means when you cover your iPad with it, it covers the sides as well. That makes it easier to cover your iPad and toss it into a bag, because this case covers everything except the backside (which is already arguably protected).
It also has padding to protect your iPad if dropped, which is something I have not seen in other cases. Lastly, although the case does not magnetically attach, the case does appear to turn your iPad on/off when you take it in and out of the case.
The keyboard, for the most part, works very well. It takes a few minutes to get used to the raised edges on the sides. Once you get past that, it is easy to type quickly and accurately. I went back and forth between this keyboard and the other Logitech, and I think this keyboard is slightly more accurate and the keys are more responsive. The keyboard also has a nice row of iPad function keys, which enhances the functionality.
What I don’t like about the Logitech Keyboard Case for iPad 2
If you have large hands or fingers, the raised edges could become frustrating. I have really long fingers, but I adjusted relatively quickly. Other than that, the keyboard is very solid.
In terms of the case, the biggest flaw is that it is does not attach to your iPad. When you are storing your iPad, you place it face down into the case and with a slight push, it snugs into place. Over time, I’m wondering if the case becomes looser and allows the iPad to fall in and out of the case. That’s a speculative and fairly minor gripe though.
Style wise, there are definitely better looking cases out there—you’re not going to win any style points with this case. But it’s functionality value is pretty stinking high.
Who should buy this?
The keyboard is up there with the best of them. So if you want a keyboard that works really well, this is for you. Perhaps more importantly, if you live a more rough and tumble lifestyle and need a case that offers more robust protection, this case is for you.
