Zippiest Wireless Router: ASUS Black Diamond RT-N56U

4-Step Computer Security Upgrade

Learn to encrypt your files, secure your computer when using public Wi-Fi, enable two-factor authentication, and use good passwords.

After going through my third Netgear business-class router in three years at the office, I decided to try something different, and bought the ASUS Black Diamond RT-N56U wireless router based on a recommendation from The Wirecutter.

I’ve only had it for one day, so I can’t comment on reliability, but setup was quick, easy, and dummy-proof, and it makes a huge difference in speed. The internet feels twice as fast as it did with a Netgear router between my computer and the Comcast modem. Assuming it will last longer than my Netgear routers did (which won’t be difficult), I’m thrilled with my new router.
