Find your spot with Parkopedia Parking
Parkopedia Parking is like Wikipedia, but just for parking (hence the clever name). It is available via their website and there are smartphone apps for iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, and Palm.
The iPhone app is free and it’s pretty awesome. You can either search by typing in a location, or by having the app find parking based on your current location. After that, you get a list of parking options in order of closest to farthest from your destination.
For most options, if you click on the parking option, you will get pricing information, phone number, hours, and directions from your current location. Let’s just say it’s a little easier than driving around the block trying to save a buck.
Maintain your meter with Parking Time
If you luck out and find an open meter, use Parking Time to make sure you leave before your meter runs out. The app is only available for the iPhone and it is free. Based on how useful it is, it will hopefully become available on other platforms soon.
The app is simple, punch in the amount of time left on your meter and the app will let you know when your time is almost up (customizable depending on how much warning you want). The best feature, however, is that the app will also geotag your location and give you directions back to your car.
Think about it: you have probably parked at a meter and then forgotten where you parked on more than one occasion. Parking Time will make sure you don’t get a ticket and that you get back to your car in a timely manner.
