Timeless Trench Coats

by on March 2, 2012

Trench coats are always in style but this spring has brought a complete refresh of the classic coat. The buttoned up and classy coat has been updated in bright shades, fun patterns, and even color blocking. A trench coat is great for the late winter-early spring transition, where it’s too warm for a winter coat but chilly enough for a substantial jacket.

The Burberry trench is the quintessential coat and I highly recommend making the investment if you can. (If so, splurge for the version with the removable fleece lining, you’ll thank yourself on sleet-filled days). However, Burberry is no longer the only option in great trench coats. Trench coats should be fitted but not snug. When looking for a trench also keep in mind your height. If you are on the shorter side look for a coat that hits above the knee by a few inches and below the hip by a few inches. Polish off your spring ensembles with this timeless piece.

Just remember that, unless you’re in uniform, the trench belt should be tied, never buckled!
