This is how liberty dies:

The poll found almost one third of American adults would accept a “TSA body cavity search” in order to fly. Moreover a majority believes that it is reasonable to criminalize the act of disobeying any TSA agent.

We kill it.

    I would be interested to know what percentage of that third actually flies anywhere. In my observation, the people most willing to sacrifice something are those who aren’t actually personally impacted by it. I’ve gotten the additional pat down four times by TSA (including one gate-side AFTER already clearing the naked-body scanner) and find it both icky and not-at-all safety-inducing. Of my friends and acquaintances who fly regularly, the overwhelming majority object to more invasive practices.

    Um, do these people know what a “body cavity search” entails? I’d ride a train before I’d submit to that to fly, and think pretty much everyone I know at least would say the same.
